Sunday, October 11, 2015 – Celebrating 36 Years!
We spend most of our time focusing on the physical aspects of our race preparation, yet it really is only half of the equation. Without a strong mental game, all of the long runs, speed work and strength training won’t matter. With about six weeks left, it’s now time to work on our head games. (Victoria, BC – August 31, 2015) A new volunteer recognition award has been announced by the GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon. The annual event, to be held on Sunday, October 11, has declared 2015 to be the “Year of the Volunteer,” and is asking for nominations to recognize the hundreds of volunteers who devote many hours to make the event a success…
The Year of the Volunteer! Call for Nominations
Each year over 1,600 volunteers help make the GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon a success, and this year we are saying a special Thank You by making 2015 the “Year of the Volunteer”. We are putting the call out for nominations for a Volunteer of the Month Award. We want your nomination for a monthly award that we will be giving out to recognize volunteers that are involved with our event. They may have been volunteering for many years or new to the event. Everyone makes a difference and impacts the thousands of people that lace up their shoes every Thanksgiving to run and walk in Victoria.

“There’s no shortage of stuff to do in Victoria, British Columbia. The provincial capital on the southern tip of Vancouver Island offers kayaking, canoeing, sailing, fishing, and hiking, and bills itself as “the cycling capital of Canada,” thanks to miles of paths and trails. So it’s no surprise that this active-person’s paradise hosts a marathon every October, when temps (usually in the 50s) are PR perfect.” [READ MORE]
