  2. Is the GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon a Certified Boston Marathon Qualifier?

    Yes, the GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon course is AIMS, IAAF and Athletics Canada certified and can be used as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon and the New York City Marathon. It is also sanctioned by BC Athletics.

  3. Where Is Victoria, And How Do I Get There?

    Victoria, the capital of the Canadian province of British Columbia, is located at the southern tip of Vancouver Island. Victoria is 70 miles northwest of Seattle, WA and 50 miles south of Vancouver, BC. Victoria is a popular tourist destination for people from around the world and is easily accessible via a wide variety of air and sea transportation options.

  4. What Time Does Each Race Start?

    6:30 a.m. Marathon Early Start (7:00 hour time limit - for marathoners slower than 5:30 hours ONLY - Finish line closes at 2:00 p.m.)
    7:10 a.m. 8K Road Race Wheelchair and Visually Impaired Start
    7:15 a.m. 8K Road Race Start
    7:25 a.m. Half Marathon Wheelchair and Visually Impaired Start
    7:30 a.m. Half Marathon Start
    8:40 a.m. Marathon Wheelchair and Visually Impaired Start (for marathoners faster than 5:29 ONLY)
    8:45 a.m. Marathon Main Start (5:29 hour time limit - Finish line closes at 2:30 p.m.)

  5. Can I Start At 6:30 a.m. If I'm Faster Than Five and a Half Hours Or If I'm In The Half Marathon?

    No. Only marathoners expecting to be slower than 5:30 hours will be permitted to start at 6:30 a.m. Anyone finishing the marathon faster than 5 hr 15 min from the early start will be disqualified. This is a safety issue - the far reaches of the course have no marshals until after 8:00 a.m. More information...

  6. Can I Walk The Half Marathon Or The Marathon?

    Yes! The time limit in the Half Marathon is 5 hours 59 minutes. It starts at 7:30 a.m. Walkers must not walk more than 2 side-by-side for safety reasons; faster runners from the other races will be approaching from behind. The following time limits apply.

    Marathon - Early Start 6:30 a.m. (est. finish of 5:30-7:30 hrs only)
    Marathon - Main Start 8:45 a.m. (est. finish of 5:29 or less)

    Indicate your expected finishing time on your entry form. The finish line closes at 2:30 p.m.

  7. Where Does Each Race Start?

    The Early Marathon, Half Marathon, and Marathon all start on Menzies Street at Kingston on the opposite side of the BC Legislative Buildings from the Fairmont Empress Hotel.

    The 8K Road Race starts on Belleville Street between Menzies and Oswego, a block away from the finish line.

    The THRIFTY FOODS Kids Run starts on Kingston St. (just off Menzies).

    On race morning, check your gear at the clothing check on Government St. at Belleville, then walk along the paved driveway in front of the steps of the Legislative Buildings to the start line for your event.

  8. Do You Have Pace Bunnies?

    New for this year we will be offering pace leaders for the following finish times for the MARATHON ONLY: 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15 and 4:30. There are no Pace Bunnies for the Half Marathon.

    There will be an opportunity to meet your pace leader, pick up a pace bracelet at the Race Expo on Friday, October 10th and October 11th at the Victoria Conference Centre. There will also be a time set during the weekend during the Speaker Series to hear from the pace leaders (time to be confirmed).

    On Race Morning, you will find your pace leader in the start corral on Menzies as of 8:15 am for the Marathon start time of 8:45 am.

    Also, please note that those running a similar pace as you will be lined up at the start line time banner that reads:

  9. Can I Register On Race Day?

    No. Registration ends at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12 at the Victoria Conference Centre.

  10. Can I Make Changes To My Registration Information?

  11. I Pre-Registered And Now I'm Injured Or Have Another Commitment. Can I Get A Refund Or A Deferral?

    Sorry, there are no refunds or deferrals and registrations may not be transferred to another runner. Course Tours, Carbo Gala Dinner, and Post-Race Massage are refundable until August 31st with a written request.

  12. What About Baby Joggers?

    Baby joggers are not permitted in the Marathon, Half Marathon and 8K Road race for insurance and safety reasons. If an accident were to occur between a runner and a baby jogger, neither party would be covered by our event liability insurance. The GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon is a foot race. For safety and liability reasons all events are limited to registered runners only. Bicycles, hand cycles, skateboards, rollerblades, scooters, skates, pacing and running with dogs are strictly prohibited on the course. Non-compliance with these safety rules will result in disqualification.

  13. Can I Wear My iPod or use a Music Listening Device During The Race

    iPods/ Music Listening Devices are not encouraged but are permitted at the Victoria Marathon. Here is the disclaimer that applies to these devices:

    Please keep your volume low enough so that you can hear the instructions of the volunteers, police and/or emergency vehicles along the route. This is for your safety.

Boston Certified
