After completing his degree at the University of Victoria he opened Frontrunners Westshore with friend Mark Nelson in August of 2005 and is now co-owner of all three Frontrunners Victoria stores. A Runner’s Cheat Code

Dr. Jaritt Ptolemy

July’s presentation was with Dr. Jaritt Ptolemy and is titled “A Runner’s Cheat Code” because he believes these principles can be implemented immediately with notable results. He refers to them as a “cheat code” because he has noticed in his clinical practice and as a running coach that hardly anybody is utilizing them. They are the low hanging fruit that the vast majority of runners are missing out on.They are inherent to how the body works, but since very few are utilizing them and taking advantage of they’re benefits, they become a “cheat code”. He believes this is the foundation for which all technique work, training and programming should be built upon. By the end of the presentation you will have actionable steps to improve your running performance and longevity to help improve your body’s awareness and make you a more intuitive runner.

MelRad Mobility

Melanie McQuaid

Do you struggle in staying consistent with your training?  Are you stuck in a stubborn injury cycle? Are you finding it hard to perform or recover from high intensity training?  Maybe introducing mobility training to your schedule is what your training is missing. Mobility sessions improve tendon and ligament health, improve strength and flexibility, and unlock movement patterns required for good running biomechanics. These factors underpin healthy run training.

Melanie will led an abbreviated class introducing the training and describing key factors in building and maintaining healthy tissue.  We ran through some exercises to improve your running from the ground up.  You can choose to actively participate or tune in for the rationale behind the training. You will want to have a mat, foam roller and a golf or lacrosse ball, and a broomstick. Dress in comfortable running gear you would want to stretch or do strength work in.
